Our Chief Formulator’s first love is aromatherapy. And since it’s the season of love, let’s dive into the wonderful world of aromatherapy and look into a few essential oils that inspire a little love & romance!

But before we talk about our recommended essential oils for love & romance, a little science & history…

Aromatherapy, often considered a holistic approach to well-being, involves the use of essential oils extracted from plants to promote physical, emotional, and mental health. Many individuals find the scents derived from essential oils to be calming, uplifting, and even sensual.

Cleopatra VII, who was famously seductive, was said to be a fragrance fanatic.

“Enobarbus: I will tell you.

The barge she sat in, like a burnish’d throne,

Burned on the water: the poop was beaten gold;

Purple the sails, and so perfumed that

The winds were lovesick with them;

…From the barge

A strange invisible perfume hits the sense

Of the adjacent wharfs.”

Shakespeare, Antony and Cleopatra, Act II, Scene II

Setting the Mood

Let your inner Cleopatra help create a romantic atmosphere that is all about engaging the senses, and scent plays a crucial role in this process. Essential oils such as lavender, rose, and jasmine are frequently associated with romance for their delicate and alluring fragrances. Whether through diffusers, candles, or massage oils, these scents can set the mood for an intimate and memorable experience.

Lavender

Known for its calming properties, lavender can create a soothing environment, ideal for relaxation and connection. Consider incorporating lavender-scented candles or diffusers to enhance a quiet evening together.

Rose

Ylang Ylang

Ylang Ylang is The Siraman which is loosely translated to bathing, is a ceremony in which specially prepared water contains Indonesian varieties of flower petals such as Ylang Ylang, Rose, Champaca, and Jasmine.
