Himalayan Cedarwood Essential Oil
$5.45 – $52.00Price range: $5.45 through $52.00Cedrus deodara
Himalayan Cedarwood essential oil has a light, powdery, sweet, and balsamic aroma. Cedarwood is an excellent example of why you should choose your essential oils by Latin name and not by common name.
Cedarwood atlas (Cedrus atlantica) has a completely different scent profile than Himalayan cedarwood (Cedrus deodora). Other very common “so called ” cedars are Virginian cedar (Juniperus virginiana) and Texas (Juniperus mexicana), which are actually juniper. Other mistaken “cedars” are white cedar (Thuja occidentalis) and red cedar (Thuja plicata), which are both arborvitae from the cypress family and not cedar.

Patchouli Essential Oil
$7.16 – $77.00Price range: $7.16 through $77.00Pogostemon cablin Benth. (P. patchouli Pellet), fam. Lamiaceae (Labiatae)
Our dark Indonesian patchouli essential oil has a woody, smoky, and characteristic earthy aroma.
Fun fact, Patchouli actually belongs to the mint (Lamiaceae) family, but there is nothing minty about the aroma! In fact, Patchouli tends to be one of those essential oils that people either love or hate, with only a handful of people being indifferent about the aroma.
Being in the aromatherapy world since 1998, Kayla (our Chief Formulator & Aromatherapist) has noticed, in her informal non-scientific observation, how people feel about patchouli essential oil is directly related to their scent-memory. She found that those who responded positively to the aroma had a good to great scent-memory and those that responded very negatively to it had bad scent-memories associated with patchouli. Those with no scent memory of it, tend to be indifferent. Hades softened his wife’s curse and gave the Minthe, as a weed, a sweet scent with cooling and calming effects.
